about
Chelou continues to expand his sonic footprint, ups the tempo and transports you to that peak summer festival moment you’ve been missing. ‘Wishing Well & Blems’ step into the realms of 90s pop-rock revival, but the elements we know and love about Chelou are still intact; his abstract lyrics, ethereal vocal and sweet guitar licks, all elevated through next level production. The beauty of a Chelou record is the consistency in experimentation, and he cannot be pigeonholed. It’s what had made him a refreshing and in demand artist of the last 5 years, writing music with highly respected producers like Maya Jane Coles, Calibre, Amp Fiddler, Subculture and more.
‘Wishing Well & Blems’ are the result of a winter 2020 trip to a cabin in Abergavenny, Wales where Chelou bunkered down to create music with close friends U.K duo Wayward who released their debut LP Waiting For The World earlier this year, and Indigo Soul label head Catching Flies. Their close knit bond allowed the boundaries of Chelou’s transportive sound to be pushed and taken to a new plane.
“If you’re not progressing in music, then you’re stagnant and it’s as simple as that, '' explains Chelou. “I’m a fiend for collaboration, and am the first to vocalise that Chelou is the work of a growing collective of musicians and producers. Combining our talent has helped me tie so many experimental genres together and expand the sound above and beyond.”
